I like the show Chuck. It is funny and geeky. If that isn't your cup of tea then why are you reading this because that is what I aspire to be. The show, like another of my favorite shows Psych makes regular 80s references, but unlike Psych they are often pretty subtle.

Last night Chuck, who is an accidental spy, is pretending to be a Dr. while checking out a patient who is believed to be a member of a terrorist group based in Afghanistan. He meets the patients personal physician and goes through this "Doctor, Doctor, Doctor, Doctor, and Doctor" sequence that is almost identical to the one in Spies Like Us. More than just the line is the concept. He is told to operate on this terrorist, which he can't do, at one point just like the movie. Also in the movie it is a member of the Taliban, which we all know now are terrorist (freedom fighters depending on the side you are on) in Afghanistan.

Anyways, to top it all off Chevy Chase is going to be on next week's episode, so I'm feeling very much like I picked up on some very intentional and subtle writing. Yep I'm a geek, but if you are shocked and surprised ... then again I ask, why are you here?

I have been meaning to watch that show, but I'm one of those who want to see things from the beginning. I wonder if they have Season 1 for rent at Hollywood Video...

I never got into Chuck, but I love Psych. I only get 1/8 of the 80's references though. Still, it's muy hilarious...

katdish,

Dunno if it would be available to rent, but the upside is that it is easy to start up whenever. There are a few inside things like "Fulcrum" that you might not get at first but it isn't anything like Lost or Heroes with so much going on that you need to watch pretty much from the beginning.

jasonS,
Psych is fully awesome. I wish it was network so they didn't have such confusing airing schedule. All he cable channels seem to show a month or two then take forever off then start the show back up randomly. Very irritating but I'm willing to put up with it for two reasons. Good show, and the DVR catches the shows when they start back up so I don't have to keep up with it.

I love Heroes, Psych, and Chuck. The DVR at our house is set to record all of 'em.

I did catch the Spies Like Us reference, but I missed the connection when they asked him to operate.

Max02,

Personally I'm really looking forward to next week on Chuck. I just hope this isn't an attempt to save the show. Often when they start tossing in guest stars like Tricia Heffner and Chevy Chase they are just going for ratings and it is the death nell of the show.

I have felt that Chuck has been losing some momentum, but I'm hoping it's not dying. That would be horrible.
